Crowd Control Barriers: The Pros and Cons of Metal vs Plastic Barricades
Events. For a business, they can be a great way to gain some brand awareness. It can also be a good way to gain more loyal customers to your brand.
However, to do this successfully, two things that you have to do are maintain order and ensure everyone's safety. Right now, about 67% of event professionals address safety and security policies in an event planning meeting.
One thing that will help when it comes to maintaining order is to have crowd control barriers. You can use either metal barricades or plastic barricades to do this.
Which one should you choose? These are the pros and cons of each option.
Metal Barricades
When it comes to metal barricades, the main pro here is that they are a bit more sturdy. If you are worried about your audience messing with the barricades, then the metal ones may be your best bet.
Someone has to make a genuine effort to move these barricades. It is also good if your crowd space is tighter. Sometimes, someone accidentally leans too far back on a barricade. A metal one has a better chance of resisting this weight.
Considering that 60% of companies believe that events are crucial for a company's success, it is best to give better odds of success anywhere you can.
The main con with this is that it will take longer to take these barricades down. So, if you are hosting a large concert or sporting event, your staff could be spending much longer taking these down than the plastic barricades.
On top of this, these tend to be heavier barricades. So, if your staff is not the strongest, it could cause an operational delay.
Plastic Barricades
When it comes to plastic barricades, the main pro is that these are much easier to put together. Plastic barricades are much lighter than metal barricades, so carrying these back and forth will cause less stress on employees.
On top of this, these barricades are more resistant to rust, so they should have a better chance of holding up over time.
Now, let's get to the main con. Because these are lighter than metal barricades, it also means that they are more vulnerable.
If you have a more rowdy crowd, these are not likely to hold up as well against it. So, if your event is in a more sensitive environment, these may not be your first choice for barricades.

These are the pros and cons of metal vs. plastic barriers. Both of these can be good for your event depending on your specific needs.
If you need maximum security, metal barricades can help with keeping everyone in the same place. If you have a skeleton staff or one that is not the strongest, you may benefit from lighter plastic barricades.
